Thank you for joining us today! Can you share the story of what led you to pursue a career in commercial design?

Of course, and thank you for having me. I guess looking back, I would say it was my role at Lee Broom. When I started working with Lee I was working predominantly as a product designer, developing his furniture and lighting collections. My role gradually expanded to include interior design which saw me working closely with Lee on very high-profile projects at the time including the Christian Louboutin space at Harrods and the Mark Hix Bar at Selfridges. Understanding how to translate concepts and themes into a commercial setting to ensure the space felt transportive for the customer, was something that really appealed to me. Unlike luxury product design, commercial design has a far wider reach and impact. Seeing those projects come to life, walking a space that I once drew on paper was very rewarding and that is what led me to commercial design.

What’s the most interesting or amusing experience you’ve had in your career so far, and what lesson did you learn from it?

That’s a good question. I wouldn’t say there has specifically been one moment or experience, but the last few weeks before a new restaurant or project…
